How to connect dell laptop to tv

Hello,

i have dell latitude d 610 laptop.i want to connect it to t.v .i bought s-video cable but my t.v does not have s-video port.it has rcv port so i bought s-video cable that has same cable.but after plug the cable i cannot see any display on my t.v.i press function key Fn+F8 but it would flicker.please any one can help me
