Not detecting MMC

Hello,
Hi i took new 4gb kingstone memory card. when i put that to mobile it was not detecting .. what might be the problem and send me solution. its new memory card even its not detecting in my laptop also.. do help me please...........

It is clear that the memory card should be damaged since it is not being recognized anywhere.
