toshiba satellite new HD no Internet Closed

Question

Hello, i have a toshiba satellite l305d-s5934. And i had the hard drive fry out on me. i went out and bought a new hard drive and put a used windows vista back on the harddrive. Now it wont let me even connect to internet or gimmie a option to connect it to the internet. Do i need to buy a new windows vista and install it to work??? 



Configuration: Windows XP / Safari 533.17.8

Do you have the recovery disk of the machine?the windows installed on it is which version ?is it original or modified cracked version?please give more information.

no there wasn't a recovery disc when i bought the laptop. i had put a trail version of vista buisness on the new hard drive but i still couldn't connect to the net. i did a little bit of research and i had a friend tell due to the deal that toshiba and windows had made i would need a new version of the vista is this true
