Normally When your PC Infected by Virus you need to install the latest Version of Anti Virus,
i Myself reinstall my OS :D because the Speed will not be as it was in the first day.
But anyway if you are using LAN ? make sure the Virus didn't change the IP/Port

Hello,
Try this 1.
1)Click on Start --> Run --> Type devmgmt.msc and click on OK.
"Device Manager" will be opened. If you notice any yellow mark then reinstall the
drivers. You can download the drivers from the manufacture website.
2)Right click on the "Internet Explorer" icon---->Click on properties---> Click on
"Connections" tab-->Click on "LAN settings" button. In that window uncheck all
the options, if you notice any options selected.
If the problem still exists, try resetting your TCP/IP.
Click on the below link and download the file
http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/0/F5036E5B-A675-441F-AED9-57F9E1E9470F/MicrosoftFixit50199.msi
Run the download file and follow the instructions.
Good Luck.

Think most likely the Winsock catalog is corrupted, you can try to use this WinSockFix to fix it.
If still not solving your problem, advise you to format and reinstall the Windows XP, this is the best way to clean virus and you should be able to connect to Internet later.
Hope this helps.
