Hello,

Im in need of help. I just upgraded to Windows 7 and tried to use my Seagate External hard drive (1TB) where I backed up my info. the second I plugged it in it suggested that I had to format the drive so that I could use it, I know this is obvious but the thing is that I have over 40 GB of valuable information and I can't loose it. when I plug the drive in my desktop (running Vista) works perfectly. what can I do so that I can use the hard drive in my laptop with W7?

any advice may help. thanks!

Make a windows update and also for drivers so that the external device is recognized on machine then plug it and try again,

Thanks
Hi,
First of all, thanks for the help. Everything is updated and it does recognize the drive (it assigns it a letter and everything) but its recognized as a new one and it isn't.
any other ideas??

Thanks again
