Flashing charge light compaq presario c500

Hello,
someone plugged the wrong power supply into my laptop it worked until battery died and now wont charge or run off of ac just a quick flashing than a pause and quick flashing again if i try too power on all the light quickly flash then back too quick flashing again

Please confirm whether the charger or the battery is faulty by using alternative ones and indicate for further help.
