CD/DVD Drive disappeared
Solved/Closed
Hi,
My disk drive seems to have disappeared: I can't play any disks, even those which worked previously and in other computers. I also can't write any CDs. When I try the many recommended internet solutions and Microsoft troubleshooters nothing seems to help and my CD drives no longer seem to register on "My Computer". When I go to "device manager" the drive name has a yellow exclamation mark and every attempt at restart brings up the error message:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
What is Code 19? Is there anything I can do or is a new drive/PC necessary?
Please help! Thanks

Hello,
Try this 1
Click on Start --> Run --> type regedt32 and press "Enter"
Registry editor will be opened.
Backup your registry by going to File --> Export and save the file with any name.
Now on the left side, navigate to the location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM --> CurrentControlSet --> Control
----> Class ---> Click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
At right side delete these files if u find it
upper filters,lower filters,upper filters.bak,lower filters.bak and then restart your
PC.
Good Luck.
