Ipod detected but not identified?

Hello,
when i plug in my ipod it says that there is an ipod detected but could not be identified. Could someone please help??

Get its firmware updated by genius bar.Try this.

Hey there, it might be that the specific problem is coming from the USB port, please get to the device manager and have its driver updated.
