Reparing windows xp might erase other data

Hello, i myself in desktop support, today morning i repaired windows xp service pack2 in a client end and after they are complaining that some of there data were erased and the data erased were of a third party software. Is it true that data may erase or not?

Hey There;

It is not possible that if you repair your windows some of your data can be deleted. Unless you are installing new windows and your data are in my documents folder. If you are installing upgraded windows for example if you are installing windows (XP, 2000, Vista) over older windows like (98, Me) there is a chance that some of your software might not work but it can be repair!
