My new ipod touch 4G wont turn on

Hello,
I got my iPod 1 month ago. The other night it was halfway charged and randomly turned off, and I've tried everything to fix it; pressing home+reset, I've tried plugging it into my laptop but it wont recognize it. I was just wondering if I should contact the Apple store or is there any other way I could try to get my iPod to work...?

This looks like the device is damaged or faulty in some way. Do you have the standard Apple warranty?
