No sound

Hello,
i am having a huge frickn problem my laptop has no sound and i want to enjoy sound ive tried downloading stuff i restarted my computer and nuthing !!!!!!!!!!!! ive done every thing known to man ( me) and nothing works i have a hp laptop and ive done sumthing before and it works but i forgot how to do it but i know it doesnt matter on the compueter (or does it i have no idea ) so PLZ PLZ HELP<gras></gras> also its xp if ur wondering so PLZ i dont want to wait a year for a answer not to be mean but thats watt normally happens to me but PLZ im reallly mad helpppppppp

check your sound driver or check if your sound driver is working by opening the device manager--- right clik My Computer Icon > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > sound, video and game controllers.

tell me the system configuration of your computer. that is processor,motherboard etc. check the thing said by Mr.eyel. reply what u seen? else check the sound and audio devices in control panel are unmuted....

its not muted and i have many audio codec like 5 installed and its not working

If you will check the audio, video and game controllers and you've noticed that there is a yellow question mark in the list of audio, video and game controllers, then you have no audio drivers e.g Realtek AC'97.

thx everyone for there help i have solved the problem well... this is how it goes down i install a vista cd so i could have vista on my computer cuz its hecka tight and helps u alot after that i shut my cumputer down the right way it did wat i did before it installed updates it installed sound card or watever and its back to normal bi forever
