Hp laptop to tv using vga to component

Hello,


i have an hp pavilion laptop and a sharp flatscreen (at least in front) tv...behind the tv has yellow, white, green, blue and red ports...i purchased a vga to component cable (it has the green, blue & red) and the other end is a vga goes right into my laptop...i did the display thing and at one point i got the screen pink and showing my laptop screen but it was rolling really fast...dont know what i did but now i'm getting a pink screen (when laptop is on) and it's distorted...

can someone please help me?
