Working with my HD in Windows AND Mac

Hello,
i bought an external HD, it had some files on it that i deleted (unfortuanlly), now I'm trying to work with it on MAC and the MAC does not recognize it. only Windows recognize my HD.
I found out that if I hadn't deleted those files that the HD came with I could work with it on Windows and Mac.
How can I format it no so it'll work with both? without making different partitions ?

hi,
try to return it to where you bought it.
tell them that there is a problem with this hard disk and they ay change it for you.
