Hello, I've recently bought a new battery and charger for my HP laptop. My mother was using it one day and it completely turned off. When I press the power button, it lights up but shuts off 3 seconds later, how do I fix this ?

You probably don't. It's probably a motherboard failure and needs to be diagnosed by a qualified tech.
