Samsung LCD won't connect to PC

Hello,
I have a new Samsung LCD TV 550 series. I have connected my PC laptop using a DVI and audio cable. It was working before. It was disconnected for some reason and now will not connect. The source screen says that it is not connected. This has happened with other devices as well. We eventually get them connected but I don't know why they sometimes connect and other times they don't. Anyone else have this problem? Is it the TV or am I doing something wrong?
