No icons or software on tv from laptop

Hello,
i have an acer connected to the tv and it gets all of the booting up screens, then when the desktop screen comes on the laptop the icons are missing and it will not show any programs.
What do i need to do?

When Windows is booting it is using a low resolution basic screen resolution and VGA driver. Once Windows has reached the point that it can use its full video driver it does so. I suspect the screen resolution and/or frequency being used for the laptop is not compatible with the TV. You might be able to change the resolution for the external display (TV). I suggest you go to "Control Panel" and look for an Intel Display icon.
