Ipod touch completely dead and wont turn on Closed

Question

I have an Ipod touch third generation. It completely died today so I hooked it up to my docking station. The battery showed up with a lightning bolt underneath, but then it switched and said it wasnt plugged in. It went back and forth from charging to not. I cant get it to charge. Please help!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

Hello, 

It may be from the charger. It is a possibility, please try charging it with an alternative charger. 

If it is not from the charger, then try replacing the battery to see.
