there are several things you can do-
1take battery out-depress power button 4 30 secs put back in and try
2 tap fan in back and use air gun too clean it out
3 create new user acct
4 go 2 control panel power option advance tab uncheck for password when computer on stand by
50 if u have outlook-if u have hook in options take it out\
6 if u have a .bet file with -f in shut down in start up c:\documents and setup should be empty -also try running ms config to edit your auto run

when you start the laptop keep pressing F8

- Boot up Windows XP into Command Prompt
- When at the desktop, click Start > Run
- Type regedit and click OK
- In regedit, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- In the right pane, double click on Shell
- Enter the following: explorer.exe
- Click OK
- In the right pane again, double click UserInit
- Enter the following (assuming your hard disk is c:): c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe
- Click OK
- Exit Regedit
- Restart your computer and try logging in
