Try this:
Remove the battery and cable, press and hold the power button for 58 seconds. Reconnect and boot.

Dear Sheri Turner,
Assuming that your operating system is Windows, did you hear the Windows jingle?
I assume that you have a black screen. If you press alt+ctrl+del, does the task manager pop-up? If it does, click new task and type explorer.exe then ok.
You could also have a graphic card problem, in which case, the best to test is to connect to an external monitor, hoping that you have one somewhere in the basement.
