Hello,
Good afternoon. I hope someone can help me. I left my HP laptop on all night by accident., when I went to use it today I pushed the power button an it seemed to almost start the lights came on an it was sounding like it was booting (not sure if that's what its actually called m sorry) the screen stays black LT shuts off by itself an that process repeats.Please help I will be so grateful.

Try this:
Remove the battery and cable, press and hold the power button for 58 seconds. Reconnect and boot.

Dear Sheri Turner,
Assuming that your operating system is Windows, did you hear the Windows jingle?
I assume that you have a black screen. If you press alt+ctrl+del, does the task manager pop-up? If it does, click new task and type explorer.exe then ok.
You could also have a graphic card problem, in which case, the best to test is to connect to an external monitor, hoping that you have one somewhere in the basement.
