Brie,
Your Ipod is still under warranty.
The person who gave it to you probably still has the invoice (bill); ask that person to return to the store for repair or an exchange.
Good bye

Hello,
Nice present you got!
Try this except hold the buttons longer: hold the home button then while still holding down the home button hold volume up button then while still holding those buttons go head and hold the power off button and hold that until you see the apple sign.
Good luck

Okay then try this:
1 - Simultaneously press the top button + home button.
2 - Keep both buttons until the Apple appears.
3 - Then release only the top button but still hold the home button pressed.
4 - The iPod goes into recovery mode and then you can restore it via iTunes
If the above does not work, since it's only a few days old, it's under warranty, you can get an exchange or free repair.
Re-good luck

It still aint working because when I tried that earlier it used to work but then I think I did it too many times and it stopped working. But do you still have anything else, If not then where can I get this thing exchanged or a free repair?
