My Desktop PC stopped producing sound for a long time. I can't remember how it happen. I tried installing realtek ac'97 drivers of different versions. But all in vain. The audio chip on the motherboard is alc 653 and I use xp-sp3. I tried many options as mentioned in this site, but no use. Any help will be great.

Hello,

Try this 1

Click on Start --> Run --> Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.

[If you are using Windows 7 then click on Start --> In search bar, type

"Device Manager" will be opened. Is there any yellow mark ?

Click on the below link and download the file
