Hello,

I have an excel sheet that I am trying to display 3 different tables on, but I want to make it so that I can filter the tables down to just a single blank row or just the title columns if possible as a default for the table. That way the user can see the three options available and choose to expand the one they want, then if they want to contract the table they can select the filter/sort pull down menu and contract it back to just the blank row or title columns as a default filter. Is there any way to do that?

Thanks

Hi Indydude,

Not entirely sure but I think you are looking to "group" your data.

I can try to explain, but this site has pictures, so you will probably understand it in a blink of the eye:

In Excel 2003 the option can be found in the Top menu > Data > Group and Outline.

My boss doesn't like the grouping feature and wants me to keep the look of just the drop down that the autofilter has but wants it to just display the column title row of the table as the default selection and then be able to filter/unfilter the data from the drop down. I tried to paste a screenshot of what I have now but the site won't let me do it.

It sounds to me like you just described the function of autofilter.

I would really like to see what you mean. These sites will allow you to upload your workbook so you can post back the download link:
