My son's Acer 5250 laptop just would not boot one morning. Upon starting it up I got a logo from Acer and F2 for set up on screen. After that it just goes black with a white cursor blinking. I tried the whole "reflash" bios trick but when holding the FN/Alt/Power buttons down together the power light never flashes to release and boot. I fear it might be a hard drive issue. Can anyone provide advice?

Hello,

Try this 1

Go to BIOS --> Load default settings --> Save the settings and exit from it.

After restart --> Once again, go to BIOS --> Make sure that your hard drive

is detected in the BIOS --> Set the first boot device as "Hard drive" --> Save the

settings and exit from it.

Good Luck

Thank you for that, but the issue is the same. I have downloaded the bios from Acer website. Can I tell it to boot from USB first to try and redo it? All I get is gerbaled letters and colors now?
