Hi,
I keep getting a error message when booting stating ':A device in the modular bay cannot be recognized" I then went into set up to view the booting order and the first one listed in diskette, why not the hard drive? The computer was working fine, i had been trying to get it to boot pass the white screen, it did and i even got on the internet. I restarted the computer and received the message about the modular bay. I did open the cd tray in an attempt to burn some pics before a factory restore but the cd was full. If anyone could help me with this i would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Many older laptop/desktop computers were designed for XP where its early versions did not have a bootable CD. You needed to boot with a DOS floppy and then start the XP install.
Looking at my D420 you can disable a device by using the space bar after using the up/down keys to select the "diskette drive". I assoume the D600 would be similar.
Good Luck

Hi sanderstoo,
Please check in the BIOS if both Hard Drive and Optical Drive or either of them is detected? Check the image here to find how to see the Hard Drive in the BIOS page. If either or both of them are not detected, please try to re-seat the same. You can refer to the Service Manual for steps on how to re-seat the Hard Drive and Optical Drive. After re-seat check the status and reply.
