Hi,

My laptop running Windows Vista was performing fine then I powered it on one day and it went straight to my wallpaper. No start menu, no icons, mouse moves but unable to right or left click. I cannot enter safe mode as when I power it up, it goes directly to my wallpaper. Nothing happens when I control-alt-delete or control-alt-escape so I can't try New Task. I can play dvd's so that drive works. Is there a program I could burn and then run on my broken computer? Your help is much appreciated!

Try hitting F8 multiple times as you turn the laptop on. Or hit the power button a second time while it's booting. Anything to interrupt the boot process. Try this a couple of times to see if you can get an error menu that allows you to select safe mode. From there you might try to restore to a date before you had problems.

Good Luck
