Laptop HDMI to Sony Bravia Tv Not Working

Hello,

i have a Compaq CQ125-TU Laptop and it comes with a HDMI port. I want to connect my bravia tv to my laptop. When i connect HDMI to sony it shows connected sign but no Picture come.I used "Project to a second display" option but it doesn't work out. My tv's resolution is 1920 * 1080 but my laptop's highest resolution is 1360 * 786. When i connect vga cable i can increase the resolution but in HDMI i can't.

Please help me how can i use HDMI.

Did you try holding down the function (Fn) key and tapping the blue monitor key (it's different on all laptops, but usually one of the "F" keys) to send a digital signal to the TV?
