When I press certain keys I get a letter and a number

I have a Lenovo G550 laptop and when I press certain letters i get a letter and a nymber also. For instance if I hit the letter k, I get k8. I have tried everything I can think of and cannot fix the issue. Not even sure how I managed to change my laptop to this setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You probably didn't change anything. This kind of thing happens when the keyboard fails. Can you find a USB external keyboard to test with? Or, perhaps you can use the OSK (On Screen Keyboard) for testing. Just Google OSK for instructions.

I actually did use the in screen keyboard and it seems to work just fine. So I am at a loss

So if OSK works then you have a broken keyboard that needs to be replaced. You can often find replacement keyboard on Ebay.
