Who knows what happens to flash memory. Hardware error/static electricity or whatever. You might the free version of this software:

Don't panic. To recover lost photos from memory card of nikon digital camera, first stop using the camera to take any new photos. Then connect it to computer, and then you can use data recovery software to scan its memory and retrieve lost photos.
