I have a Acer Pavilion DV7 laptop it boots up at times and other times it don't, I have checked the hard drive & the ram it's all ok the lights come on and the fan is working but no light from the hard drive

Hello,
Is your laptop HP Pavillion ? Let us know the complete model number. Are you able to see the starting screen when you turn on your laptop ?

Thank you for you reply, it is a HP pavilion model DV7-3112SA sometimes it starts up and when it does I can do a restart no problem when I shut it down it wont start up again

Hello,
Try this 1
1) Unplug the power cord --> Remove the battery --> Hold the power button for
60 seconds --> Connect the power supply then try to switch ON the laptop and
later put the battery back into the laptop.
2) If the problem still exists then click on the below hyperlink "Hardware
Diagnostics" and follow the onscreen instructions.
