Laptop ethernet chord wont work for ps3

Hello,
i had the ethernet cable hooked up 2 the ps3 it worked just fine. then i hooked it up 2 my laptop. the internet works. but when i plugged it back into the ps3 the connection fails.. what should i do???

After testing all solutions posted none worked for me except this one that I found by trial an error....

Go to Network setting and choose manual settings> one of the first questions is the port speed configuration, change from auto to 100Mbps full duplex or 10Mbps full duplex depending your router's port configuration... for all other settings just hit next so leave them to the default setting... Save and test your connection, this is working for me as a charm after having my Ethernet port dead for about 8 months and using an tied to Wi-fi only; Hope it helps...
