Hi,

It all depends what you want to use it for.

Define "best".
We would need to know what programs you want to run and what you use the laptop for.

I'd like a fast long-lasting laptop with a good battery life . I am an engineering student so mostly i have to use visual studio, labview , autocad and such programs ! Also i want to be as far as I can from toshiba laptops because i already owned two of them and both were a real disappointment .

Hello,

Most of the problems reported on Kioskea are with Toshiba.

If I were you, I would look for something more reliable such as HP.

Here are some of them in this link:

If I may...I was a "road warrior" for a number of years, and used to THROW my dell laptop when I got to the hotel room, and I never had a single issue with it.

********THE RESULTS IN THE ABOVE STATEMENT ARE NOT TYPICAL, DO NOT TREAT ANY MACHINE IN THIS MANNER!*************

@My93...You are going to need more than US$1000 for the machine you are needing. CAD and Engineering software is a BESTBUY SALESMANs NIGHTMARE! Go to a local small shop and have them build you one!

Thanks Mark, a road warrior's opinion is always venered and respected.

P.S. Where did you use to throw your Dell?

@My93 also look carefully at the warranty, large company offer the longest one also compare the after sales service, sometimes not so good with asian companies.

My Dell Always landed some corner up, and at least as far as the first single bed! I would typically attempt to hit both of em, and the AC unit! One project (I really didn't care about, something about FanniemaeAndFreddieMac), it bounced off the second bed and hit the sliding door! Still Booted! I really wanted to blame that one on the TSA!

Since then, I have been in Charge of purchasing for two seperate companies, and All have suplied me with the one that rhymes with well. I guess if it works, you return to it. Also, get the on site coverage, nothing beats a tech showing up within 18 hours with a new Mother board, or hard drive! ANYWHERE!
