Laptop will not turn on

I have a Sony viao vgn FJ270 . It was working fine then about a month ago it started not powering up. It would power up sometimes if you moved the lid a bit but not it won't power up at all. any suggestions as to how to fix this would be great . It's running windows xp.

This laptop is 7 or 8 years old. It probably has motherboard damage at this point.
