Dell Inspiron just died

My laptop has just died .I have tried the f8 ,f10 taking power cord and battery out all the tips from the forums but nothing is working .It is booting with all the noises & dell page then I get a little line in the left hand corner .i can hear it's still on but can't get past this.
I'm not computer literate so please be gentle with me .I have a lot of stuff that I need to get so hopefully you can help me .thank you

Did you run the Dell diagnostic program?

Hi thanks for the reply.I can't get past the start screen .Ive tried f12 ,f8. Tried all the things I've read online but nothing .It turns on I get the dell start then I get a black screen with a flashing line in the left top corner.It won't go any further
