Blank Desktop, Mouse only.

I went into task manager and noticed there were 4 explorer.exe. so stupid me i ended process for the 1 that seemed to be using the most ram. when i did that my desktop disappeare. so instead of running a new explorer process i shut down my computer. when it came back on, it loaded properly but my desktop was still missing. my screen is completely blank except for the mouse. its there moves around and thats it. i cannot get into task manager either. ive rebooted many times. went into all the safe modes. reset defaults in the bios but nothing seems to work... just stays blank with the mouse. the tower seems to be loading and thinking and the mouse shows the loading symbol when it does.... Im not a computer wiz but in kinda literate. Can anyone help..
