Laptop will not turn on

I have a to toshiba laptop and the power will not turn on. I purchased a new battery and it came on for a few hours. Next day it is dead again. I did try the reset with the power button but nothing. Any suggestions?

It's possible that the power adapter or charging circuits have failed. Can you measure the power output of the adapter?
