Hello,

My son built me a computer about a year and a half ago. Now I lived on the beach in florida and had the windows open. So salt air and so on was blowing through the house.
That said, I have taken this thing to a shop 4 times. All 4 times it was sent back and still didn't work. Now on the 4 th pick up they blamed the motherboard. Wonderful you have a brain and maybe an answer. We swapped the board out and now it won't boot up it is beeping six times and doing nothing.

Well to be completely certain, remove all other boards, make certain the keyboard and mouse are present and try to boot it again. If you have removed all cards and it still beeps, then the MB is bad!

OK I am a bit confused, normally my son does this but I am tired of waiting and don't want to sound stupid either. Now other boards? do you mean the ram and such?

Yea, video, RAM, LAN cards or any other that are attached to the motherboard. Make certain that you have grounded yourself prior to removing anything. Sit the PC down on a table, sit in front of it with the cord stil plugged in. Touch the metal backing, now you and the PC are at the same ground, now remove all power before taking apart. Make certain you are not wearing WOOL socks and running around your house dragging your feet. It is pretty dry here in FLorida!
