Cannot boot up computer

I am unable to boot up to windows Vista after getting a blue screen which flashes for a second before disappearing. I have downloaded the Boot CD but trying to use on a USB. I cannot get the usb port to boot first. any suggestions

ok, clay, it sounds like you are going in the right direction. Have you ever shelled into the bios. When yur pc boots up, press F2, and you have to then change the boot order of the system.

If you are not familiar with this, let us know.
