Internet Explorer 8.1

Hello,
since down loading Internet Explorer 8.1 I have been having nothing but troubles with it. I'm running XP on my system and was told Explorer 8.1 is for Vista and is not compatible with XP.

Down loaded 8 and now cannot open attachments in outlook express
