It won't let me play sims 3

My sims three will not work on my computer I got it for Christmas and that day I started playing it would let me I tried the day after and it let me.now that I got late night and high-end loft it won't let me play at all it will load sometimes then it will freeze when I try to make a new family.and some time when I try to play after the launcher it will say error on the screen. I have an windows vista computer if that helps u guys answer my question!
