Hello nil,
Does your hard drive showing RAW format or just unable to access? I assume that this hard drive is your main drive so you are unable to get to the Command prompt. Is that so?
I think, the best you can do is to find Windows repair CD and try to fix the errors. When you have got one, try by pressing F8 and entering into WindowsRE screen to gain access the console command line and type the following command:
chkdsk /r <drive>, where <drive> is the letter of the drive on which the damaged file, folder or file system index exists.
Click OK.
Hope this helps.
