Hey there, xyloreinelace.
Sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with your drive. Have you experienced any problem with the drive before it was write protected? Did you turn on the write protection of the HDD and if "yes" what method did you use?
Do you have any data you need recovered from the drive?
I'd recommend that you try the drive with a different computer and a different USB cable (not longer than 12") to see if the same thing happens.
