Mouse won't work

When I turn on my laptop the mouse is working fine but after a few minutes it stops working? To make it work I have to press the mouse lock on and off for it too move a little bit at a time and keep doing that...Iv turned my laptop off and on but nothing changes! Any help?!?!?

This appears to be a hardware problem with the Mouse Pad. Have you tested with an external USB mouse?
