The hard disk is working. There's a small light which proves it is but i'm not able to see any files or folders on it. Actually speaking i'm not able to open and view the contents of the hard disk.
please can anyone tell me how to solve it!

No, the light indicates that the hard disk only has power.

Hi Killerbee and sorry for my late response

I am sorry for the problems caused by the hard drive. Actually, the light really indicates if the hard drive receives power. Could you tell me the model of your external drive? Does the drive appear in Disk Management? Does it have a drive letter and a file format? I strongly recommend you to check the drive with another USB cable and on another PC. Do you have any valuable data on the drive?
If the drive appears in Device Manager, uninstall it, restart the PC and plug the drive back in.

Hope this helps
Thank you but my uncle fixed it for me so no issues now...I did have a lot of valuable data.
Thank you
