Hello,

I have to turn on windows media player (play/pause a video file) as soon as windows is booted in order to keep my Inspiron 6000 laptop running; otherwise, it shuts down immediately when the player is turned off.

I don't think the problem is related to hard disk, ram, or heat sink as I have already checked. Does anyone have similar problem ? Any idea or suggestion ?!!

Thanks in advance!!

hi,
check your power saving settings.
this should be the cause.
right-click on the desktop and select properties.
then click on screen saverand select power.
the check the settings.

Stevenlif,

Power scheme = "Always On"
Monitor, hard disks, system standby are set to "Never" turned off when run on AC or Batteries.

I took out the battery a long time ago and have been using it with AC plug-in.

Any other possible reasons ? Thanks for helping!!
