Hello begger49,
Have you checked whether changing the keyboard has affected the pins going out of the laptop that are responsible for charging the battery? Some of them might have got damaged or there might be something not well connected to your motherboard power supply.
Check the power settings under the power options on your computer system. They could be adjusted to sleep mode whenever the cable is unplugged. You can also update the drivers for the AC adapter and battery.
Also, you can do a quick view on the power menu of the BIOS.
Hope this helps.

Hi again,
Sometimes equipment just fails. I would like to know, does your laptop work using the new power cord even without battery or not? If it doesn't, may be the problem is not with your battery at all but it's hiding within the motherboard.
The reason I suggested the power options was that you said your laptop was working on the charger or at least that's what I understood from your post.
When replacing the keyboard with the new one, have checked if the cables of the power supply and the slots on the mother board were ok? Some hardware component might have got damaged/burnt out so that could be the reason for your laptop to not power up.
If you have the option, I suggest you to take out the hard drive and try to connect it to another computer through SATA-USB cable. If the HDD doesn't spin at all, anywhere, then it has failed mechanically and needs replacement.
Cheers.

If you're unsure how to proceed, yes the best is to bring it to a technician. Good luck.
