Laptop has wifi connection but I can't use it on anything?

So I have a laptop. A little tiny Acer. It says that I am connected to my home wifi but when I try to open browsers, it says that I have no internet connection. The weird thing is, I can use my phone, iPad, and MacBook on the wifi just not my Acer. I'm not really good with computers. My dad is better but I asked him and he had no idea. He says that it is probably something wrong with the laptop and it will be pricey to fix. Is there a way to save money and fix it myself? I've tried so much and I am just about losing hope. Please help.
