Good question.
Software do not need internet if you purchase them on a CD.
Sometimes software is downloaded from internet, yet if the setup file is save on your hard disk you do not need internet to install it.
Sometimes you must register the license key through internet.
There are 4 categories of software: open source, freeware, demo and shareware.
