I'd recommend that you try the USB flash drive with a different USB port, to see if the same thing happens. You should also check if it's recognized in Device Manager and Disk Management. If it is recognized in Disk Management, you might need to assign it a new drive letter in order for you to be able to see it in Windows Explorer (My Computer).
