Ipod shuffle shuts down when itunes opens

I have the latest itunes installed on my PC laptop. I have an ipod shuffle and I want to be able to change the playlist, specifically be deleting some songs. When I plug the ipod into the laptop via a USB connector the ipod starts to charge (the light flashes [orange]). But then when itunes opens (either automatically, or manually), the ipod light goes off. In itunes, although I can see the contents of the ipod, I can't change it (for example I can't delete any of the songs).

So it appears that opening itunes loses the connection between the laptop and the ipod shuffle. Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be gratefully received. Thank you.

So delete the songs from the library, and when it synchs, it will remove it from the device. It is a shuffle! You dont need to see the screen when it is connected to the PC! The Itunes program does all that you need it to!

Thank you for this idea ac3mark. But unfortunately, I am unable to sync the device, presumably because my ipod shuffle shuts down when itunes opens. I get no 'settings' option on the left of the itunes window and thus no way to request a sync. So I'm still stuck with an ipod shuffle (2nd generation, so no screen), that I can charge but cannot alter the contents of.

Hello,

My iPod turns on fine. My songs appear fine on it. But as soon as I click on play button, it starts acting weird. It does not play songs. When I try to forward the songs, it just resets itself.

I have tried everything possible but nothing seems to work. My iTunes does not detect my iPod. So, I cannot even reset it. And when I reset it manually, nothing happens. It just stays the same as before.

Please help!

Download music from Chrome OS to iPod?

Hi,

I have a Chromebook and have since gotten rid of my PC. I just found my iPod Touch and would like to download music onto there, but I am unable to get iTunes, WinAmp, or any of that sort of program because nothing is compatable with Chrome OS.

Is there a way still to transfer downloaded music onto my iPod from my Chromebook?

Hello,
i have an old ipod 4gb nano that works perfectly well when plugged into my computer,speakers, and wall charge. But when i unplug it it goes dead instantly. I know for a fact that there is not a warranty still on it, so what can i do??? Ive already tried restoring it and that didnt help!

Hello,
I have an ipod shuffle, the last time I was about to recharge it on my notebook but I was surprised that my computer is not even detecting it.It wont charge it wont appear on my comp folder, I tried rbooting my comp at no avail, I used a couple more diffrerent comp but its the same.Please Help Me....System Configuration: Windows 2000
