Hello,

My husband cut the power cord with a recliner. The cord sparked and we have no power. I ordered a new cord, still no power. The light is on where the cord plugs in. I removed the battery and tried to start it with just the new power cord, still nothing. Just wondering if this is a dead laptop?

Hello kathy,

It might be, but to be sure about that, go to a technician to revise it. If the motherboard has failed, the substitution would be basically the same as if you have bought a new laptop.
Nevertheless, if you have important data stored on the HDD of the laptop, my advice is to take it out and to connect it as an external drive to another PC. You could do that using an external case /docking station/ or SATA-USB adaptor. While on another PC, make a backup of the data.

Cheers.
